Knife Disposal Bins in Essex Get a Sharp New Look
Fifteen knife disposal bins scattered across Southend, Essex, and Thurrock are set for a much-needed makeover. These bins play a crucial role, collecting thousands of blades each year and helping to slash knife crime.
Bins Tackle Knife Crime Head-On
- Cut down the number of knives circulating by encouraging safe surrender.
- Give the public a legal, worry-free way to ditch unwanted knives and weapons.
- Drive home the message that carrying illegal knives can have serious consequences.
- Help reduce violent crime levels across Essex and its towns.
Youth Competition to Design the New Bin Livery
Youth creativity is now in the spotlight with a poster design contest for secondary school pupils. Winners from Southend, Essex, and Thurrock will have their anti-knife artwork featured on the revamped bins.
The panel picking the top three includes Brooke Kinsella from the Ben Kinsella Trust, EastEnders actress Louisa Lytton, Essex Police Chief Constable BJ Harrington, and Roger Hirst, Essex’s Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner.
