Bradford Blaze: Mother and Three Kids Killed in Suspected Arson
A horrific house fire in Bradford has left a family shattered. Police now treat the deadly blaze as arson after it claimed the lives of Bryonie Gawith, 29, and her three young children, Denisty, Oscar, and Aubree Birtle, aged nine, five, and just 22 months.
Early Morning Inferno on Westbury Road
The fire erupted in the early hours of Wednesday on Westbury Road. Despite the rapid response from five fire crews and police, Bryonie died at the scene. The children were rushed to hospital but tragically later died from their injuries.
Man Arrested, Investigation Underway
Police arrested a 39-year-old man at the scene on suspicion of murder. He was taken to hospital with critical injuries. Authorities believe the fire was deliberately set, linking it to domestic-related issues.
Superintendent Lucy Leadbeater said: “Detectives from our homicide and major inquiry team have launched a murder investigation into the fire. Specially trained officers are supporting the family, and neighbourhood officers are carrying out reassurance patrols in the area.”
Community in Mourning, Police Seek Help
Heartbroken locals have left flowers and touching messages at the police cordon. One read: “I love you all, all this world and more. I will miss you forever. Miss you my beautiful angels.”
Lindsey Pearson, a nearby resident, recalled the terrifying scene: “The sky was just lit up. It was like thunder and lightning.” Despite attempts by her and her son-in-law to help, police had to hold them back due to the danger.
West Yorkshire Police have urged anyone with information or CCTV footage from Westbury Road to come forward as investigations continue.
The tight-knit community remains stunned, grappling with the shocking loss and desperate for answers.
