East London Man Busted in Terror Sweep

A 34-year-old man from east London was arrested by the Met’s Counter Terrorism Command on Tuesday, 5 March, on suspicion of terrorism offences.

Serious Terror Charges

The suspect faces allegations of disseminating terrorist publications, breaking section 2 of the Terrorism Act 2006. He is also suspected of illegally collecting information, contrary to section 58 of the Terrorism Act 2000. The arrest was made under the Police and Crime Evidence Act.

Ongoing Police Raids

The man remains in custody as officers execute search warrants at several east London addresses. Authorities are combing these premises as part of the ongoing probe.

No Link to Recent Suspicious Packages

Police have confirmed this arrest is not connected to the recent investigation into suspicious packages sent to three London buildings.
