Man plunges into icy Thames near London Bridge – search underway

A desperate search was launched on Monday evening after a man fell into the freezing River Thames close to London Bridge.

Emergency scramble as man enters Thames

At around 5:30pm on December 12, police were alerted that a man had jumped into the chilly river waters. With temperatures expected to plunge to -3°C tonight following snowfall, the urgency to find him was critical.

No sign yet despite full-scale rescue effort

The Metropolitan Police’s Marine Policing Unit teamed up with City of London Police and the RNLI to hunt for the missing man, but so far he remains unlocated.

Police issue statement – hunt continues

“Concerns were raised about a man seen entering the River Thames near London Bridge at 5.33pm on Monday, December 12th. Officers responded immediately and conducted a search, assisted by the Met’s Marine Policing Unit, City of London Police, and the RNLI. The man has not been found, and further investigations are underway.”

As freezing weather bites London, the race is on to find the man before hypothermia sets in.
