£1m Cash Haul Seized from Lorries at Dover
Border Force Nabs Cash-Laden Trucks
Border Force officers made a massive cash seizure at Dover’s Eastern Docks on Friday, recovering over £1 million hidden in two lorries. Both vehicles tried to sneak out of the UK with the cash stashed in their refrigerated motor housings.
Early Morning and Late Morning Raids
- At 2.45am, officers stopped the first lorry, uncovering roughly £830,000.
- Less than nine hours later, the second lorry was caught carrying around £330,000.
Drivers Caught and Charged
The drivers, both Turkish nationals working for the same Belgian firm, have now been charged with money laundering.
“Money is the life blood of serious and organised crime,” said Andrea Wilson, regional head of investigations at the National Crime Agency. “UK law enforcement has taken more than £1m off this organised crime group which they can no longer invest in further offending.”
This outstanding border bust is a major win in the fight against organised crime in the UK.
