Man Dies After Early Morning Assault in Hartfield Avenue
Police have launched a murder investigation after a brutal attack in Brighton’s Hartfield Avenue left one man dead and two others seriously wounded. Emergency services rushed to the scene just before 7.30am on Tuesday following reports of a man assaulting multiple people inside a home.
Officers found a 57-year-old man with severe injuries. Despite efforts to save him, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Woman and Child Hospitalised with Serious Injuries
A woman and a young boy were also found inside the property, suffering serious injuries. Both are now receiving hospital treatment, with their conditions under close watch.
Suspect Arrested as Police Investigate
A 19-year-old Brighton man has been arrested on suspicion of murder. He remains in custody as detectives scramble to uncover why this terrifying attack happened.
Chief Superintendent Rachel Carr said: “This is a tragic incident and we understand it will cause shock and alarm among the local community. However, there is not believed to be a wider threat to the public at this time.”
“A fast-moving investigation is underway to establish exactly what happened and why.”
Police Appeal for Information
Officers are maintaining a heavy presence in the area today, carrying out door-to-door enquiries and forensic work. Police say they are not looking for anyone else linked to the attack.
