Man Attacked with Glass After Homophobic Abuse in East London Bar

A 20-year-old man was assaulted in The Grove, E15, after being targeted with homophobic slurs while out with friends.

Homophobic Abuse Sparks Violent Attack

At around 11pm on Friday, 19 August 2022, an unknown man approached the victim at a local bar. By midnight, the suspect began hurling homophobic insults.

The victim tried to avoid confrontation by moving to another table – but moments later, he was struck on the chin with a glass.

Victim Hospitalised as Police Launch Investigation

The attack left the victim needing hospital treatment and stitches for his injuries.

Police are now eager to identify and speak to the man caught on CCTV in connection with the assault.
