Teen Nabbed in High-Speed Knife Chase Across East London Streets

A 17-year-old has been arrested after a dramatic foot chase and a dangerous weapon was taken off East London streets.

Suspicious Behaviour Sparks Midnight Pursuit

Just after 1am on Wednesday, January 13, officers from the Met’s Violent Crime Taskforce spotted a young man acting suspiciously in Vicarage Lane, E6. When approached, he bolted.

Knife Found After Intense Chase

The teenager was chased down and caught on Becket Avenue, E6. A search revealed he was carrying a knife.

He was arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon and remains in custody.

Met Clamps Down on Knife Crime

“There can be no excuse for someone to be carrying a knife like this on our streets,” said Sergeant Ben Mullender of the Violent Crime Taskforce. “My officers are relentless in tackling knife crime, and thanks to their efforts, another weapon has been removed that could have harmed someone.”
