19-Year-Old Caught and Bailed After Brutal Assault
A 19-year-old man arrested over a homophobic attack on two men outside the Two Brewers pub in Clapham has been released on bail. Police detained him in South Norwood on Thursday afternoon, charging him with two counts of grievous bodily harm (GBH). He remains under investigation as enquiries continue.
Victims Supported by Dedicated LGBT+ Officers
Detective Superintendent Vanessa Britton of the Central South Command Unit confirmed the victims have been informed and are receiving ongoing support. “Our officers, including our dedicated LGBT+ Community Liaison Officer, are standing by to help the victims through this difficult time,” she said.
Britton acknowledged the shock and fear this vile attack has sparked within the LGBT+ community. She urged anyone with information to come forward, promising a thorough investigation by a focused team of officers.

The attack took place around 10:15 pm on Sunday, August 13. Police are following up leads from witnesses and the public to bring the perpetrators to justice.
