Teen Girl Pleads Manslaughter Over Crawley Stabbing

A teenage girl appeared at Bristol Crown Court on Monday (12 July) charged with the murder of 24-year-old Nimroy Hendricks. The Crown accepted her plea to manslaughter on grounds of diminished responsibility.

Abnormality of Mind Accepted in Court

Medical experts confirmed the girl was suffering from a significant abnormality of mind at the time of the stabbing. This led to the plea being accepted. She was remanded for pre-sentencing reports, with sentencing date yet to be set.

Victim Known to Defendant

Nimroy Hendricks, fondly known as Nim by friends, died after being found with a stab wound to the chest on 27 October last year in Russell Way, Crawley. The killer and Nim were known to each other.

Police Comment on Tragic Case

“The loss of Nimroy Hendricks is heart-breaking,” said Detective Chief Inspector Andy Wolstenholme from the Surrey and Sussex Major Crime Team. “The whole circumstances are complex and tragic; our thoughts are with everyone affected.

The acceptance of the manslaughter plea was made after thorough examination by Counsel, CPS, Police, and Nim’s family, based on all expert evidence.”
