Speed Demon Jailed for Terrorising Kent Town at Triple the Limit

A disqualified driver has been locked up for 54 weeks after tearing through East and West Malling at three times the speed limit, sparking a high-speed police chase that could have ended in disaster.

Thrilling 60mph Chase Ends in Arrest

Jordan McGrath-Coulstock, 19, of Carnation Crescent, East Malling, led Kent Police on a hair-raising pursuit back in March 2020. Officers first spotted him driving a Mercedes in New Road, despite being banned from driving. They lost him briefly but caught up with a suspicious uninsured Ford Mondeo moments later.

The reckless motorist then sped through rural and residential streets, narrowly missing collisions with oncoming cars and cyclists. He zoomed down West Malling High Street at 60mph in a 20mph zone before police deployed a stinger to stop him.

Dangerous Driver Fails to Quit as Tyres Deflate

Even with deflated tyres after hitting the stinger, McGrath-Coulstock refused to stop, driving towards a busy roundabout. Police finally boxed him in, forcing the pursuit to end. When arrested, officers found the Mercedes log book in his pocket.

Multiple Charges and Police Warning

  • Dangerous driving
  • Three counts of driving while disqualified
  • Three counts of driving without insurance

He has been held in custody since the arrest and was sentenced at Maidstone Crown Court on 20 April.

Sergeant Ben Brennan from Kent Police gave a stark warning:

“McGrath-Coulstock has repeatedly shown himself incapable of basic safe driving and endangered many lives. Despite previous encounters with police, he continued his reckless behaviour. His imprisonment removes a significant threat from our roads. We hope he reflects on his senseless actions and changes his ways.”

Adding to his rap sheet, McGrath-Coulstock was also spotted cruising slowly through Maidstone traffic by an off-duty officer days before the chase, even though he knew he was banned from driving.
