PC Paul Onslow Found Guilty of Inappropriate Relationship with Crime Victim

PC Paul Onslow, once with South East Command Unit, faced a misconduct hearing on November 23 over claims he had an inappropriate relationship with a victim of crime between August 2019 and October 2021.

Serious Breach of Professional Conduct

The panel, led by Maurice Cohen, ruled that Onslow’s conduct broke the standards of professional behaviour concerning authority, respect, and courtesy. The hearing found one count of misconduct proven.

Had Onslow still been serving, he would have been dismissed immediately.

Commander Slams Officer’s Abuse of Power

Commander Trevor Lawry, head of policing at SE BCU, condemned the actions, stating:

“It is unacceptable for any police officer to use his position to begin a relationship. Police officers hold a privileged position of power and must maintain the highest level of conduct at all times.”
