Monstrous Attack: Man Jailed for Brutal Assault on Partner and Children
Aston Greenwood of Chadderton has been locked up for a shocking early-morning home invasion and savage assault on his partner and her children. The 15-year sentence, plus five years on licence, follows a horrendous attack that left the victim fearing for her life.
Harrowing Home Invasion Turned Brutal Assault
In June 2021, Greenwood broke into the victim’s home on Lancaster Street in the dead of night. The victim woke to find Greenwood trying to force his way inside. While on the phone to police, she dashed to her children’s bedroom and tried to barricade the door.
But Greenwood smashed through and launched a sustained, violent assault in front of the terrified children. He repeatedly punched and kicked her, used objects to attack, and horrifically stabbed her eyes with a shard of glass from a broken lamp.
Justice Served: Greenwood Locked Away for Good
The police arrived just in time to stop the rampage and, after a brief struggle, arrested Greenwood. He later pleaded guilty to multiple charges including grievous bodily harm (GBH), controlling and coercive behaviour, threats to kill, and assault of a child.
Sentencing, the court imposed a 15-year jail term, followed by five years on licence. Greenwood also received a lifelong restraining order banning any contact with the victim or her children.
Police Warn: Report Domestic Abuse Now
“Greenwood is a violent domestic abuser showing escalating behaviour,” said Detective Constable Demi Greenan of GMP Manchester CID. “This horrific attack left the victim terrified, fearing for her life. Our community is safer with him behind bars.”
“GMP will not tolerate violence against victims. We urge anyone suffering abuse to report it and seek help.”
