Wolverhampton Dealer Jailed for Peddling Class A Drugs

Gerhard Smith, 20, from Wednesfield in Wolverhampton, was slapped with a 27-month prison sentence at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court on Thursday (16 March).

Crack Cocaine and Heroin Bust

Smith had earlier admitted to possession with intent to supply class A drugs—specifically crack cocaine and heroin. He was also hit with a £190 surcharge.

Caught Red-Handed in Newcastle

The court heard police stopped Smith on London Road, Newcastle, at around 1:15pm on 7 March 2022. Officers found a mobile phone, cash, and cling film packed with hard drugs.

A further search at a property off Newcastle Road uncovered even more class A substances.

Police Praise the Bust

DC Philip Pegg of Staffordshire Police’s Northern Crime Support team said: “I’m happy we’ve taken these harmful substances out of circulation and stopped Smith from profiting off illegal drug dealing.

“We are proactive in pursuing offenders, and this is just one example of the work we do daily to ensure drug dealers face tough consequences.”
