Criminal’s Garage Stash Busted

Nikodem Iwaszko, 21, has been slammed with multiple charges after police uncovered a massive weapons haul and stolen vehicles in a major East Midlands crackdown. Iwaszko, who had already admitted to five other criminal property charges, was sentenced at 1 Crown Court on Monday, 30 November.

Weapon Hoard Discovered in Leicestershire

Raid teams swooped on two garages in Kenilworth Road, Wigston, and Langford Way, Leicester, as well as Iwaszko’s home on Cross Street, Wigston, last year. What they found sent shockwaves through the community:

  • Three sawn-off shotguns
  • A handgun
  • A self-loading pistol
  • Ammo supplies
  • CS spray and a stun gun
  • Two stolen cars (including a BMW)
  • Five stolen motorbikes

Police Praise ‘Intense’ Investigation

Police had been trailing Iwaszko, suspecting him of renting garages across Leicestershire to stash illegal goods. Despite attempts to dodge responsibility, including giving false details at arrest, the evidence was overwhelming. Officers’ hard graft secured the bust and convictions.

“This was a detailed operation following information received which involved a considerable amount of teamwork across EMSOU to recover the firearms and vehicles and to secure sufficient evidence to charge Iwaszko,” said Detective Chief Inspector James Avery.

“Thanks to this intense work, numerous firearms have been prevented from falling into the wrong hands and a dangerous individual has been brought to justice. We will act on any information received and will work tirelessly to keep our communities safe and protected.”
