Reading Shoplifter Hit with Tough Two-Year Ban

Kamran Latif, 42, with no fixed address, has been slammed with a two-year Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO) after a spree of theft and fraud in Reading town centre.

Five Thefts, Five Frauds, Plus Shoplifting Charges

Latif pleaded guilty to five counts of theft, five counts of fraud, and two counts of shoplifting. The offences took place between 13 July and 13 August this year.

On Tuesday 29 September, Slough Magistrates’ Court handed down the sentence, banning Latif from entering any retail or licensed premises in Reading town centre, including The Oracle and Broad Street Mall shopping centres. He must also complete a drug rehabilitation programme.

Police Praise Collaborative Approach

“I am pleased that Latif pleaded guilty and has now been issued a two-year Criminal Behaviour Order, preventing him from going to various locations in Reading town centre,” said PC Vince Moore from Reading police station.

“The evidence was overwhelming and, thankfully, victims did not have to testify.

“Our goal is to stop Latif’s repeat offences by keeping him out of the town centre and supporting his engagement with drug rehabilitation services via Change Grow Live in Reading.

“I’d also like to thank Latif’s legal rep for working towards a positive outcome focused on prevention rather than just punishment.”

“Thames Valley Police will always pursue justice for crimes like these,” PC Moore added.
