Man Dies in Suspected Knife Attack in Kenton

Police launched an urgent probe Thursday night after emergency services were called to a serious incident in Columbia Grange, Kenton.

Officers found 36-year-old Tony Nichol with a severe wound likely caused by a bladed weapon. Despite rushing him to hospital, Tony tragically died from his injuries.

Arrest Made, Murder Charge Filed

A 42-year-old man was arrested shortly after the stabbing and taken into custody. He has now been charged with murder and is set to appear in magistrates’ court on Monday.

Police Urge Calm as Investigation Continues

“A man has now been charged with Tony’s murder and we would ask that people refrain from any speculation on social media or in the local community that could prejudice the live case,” said a Northumbria Police spokesperson.

“A big thanks to the local community for your support and cooperation throughout this investigation, as well as all those who have assisted with our enquiries.”
