Man Caught on Video Raping Woman Asleep in Shocking Ammanford Case

Cameron Hassan, 32, pled guilty after a jury watched the chilling footage of him raping a woman while she slept in Ammanford, Carmarthenshire. The case unfolded at Swansea Crown Court where Judge Geraint Walters slammed Hassan’s “degrading” crime.

Horrific Crime Caught on Camera

In August 2021, Hassan was filmed sexually assaulting the woman as she stirred. Prosecutor Nicola Powell revealed the victim told police she would “never have consented to intercourse while she slept.” On the disturbing video, Hassan abuses the woman verbally, ordering her to “wake up” before encouraging her to “go back to sleep.” When she fully woke, the victim pleaded “don’t” and “please get off.”

Hassan tried to claim it was “role play” and that the woman was “pretending to be asleep” during a police interview. But the chilling evidence and victim statements told a different story.

Judge Condemns “No Respect For Women”

“Watching that film was difficult for any right thinking individual,” Judge Walters told Hassan. “You have no respect for women at all. It’s hard to imagine a more degrading act.”

The Judge also highlighted Hassan’s 92 previous criminal offences. At the time of the attack, he was on licence and had a history of violence and harassment towards women — though no prior sexual offences.

Victim Speaks Out: “I Don’t Want to Be Afraid Anymore”

The woman did not attend the sentencing hearing but submitted a powerful victim impact statement. She described living with “massive trust issues,” struggling with intimacy, and suffering from nightmares and depression.

“I no longer believe what people tell me. I don’t see my friends anymore. I’ve shut myself away. I don’t want to be afraid anymore,” she said.

Hassan, who has no fixed address, must now register as a sex offender for life. The court made clear the lasting damage caused by his appalling actions.
