Man Stabbed to Death in Busy Oxford Circus – Murder Probe Launched
A man has died after a vicious stabbing at Oxford Circus in central London, sparking a murder investigation.
Knife Attack Sparks Chaos at Oxford Circus
Police rushed to the scene just before 8pm on Thursday, 1 July, following reports of a stabbing near the busy junction with Regent Street.
Officers, alongside London Ambulance Service and London’s Air Ambulance, found a 60-year-old man with serious stab wounds. He was taken to hospital but tragically later died.
Suspect Held as Police Hunt Witnesses
A 25-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of grievous bodily harm and carrying an offensive weapon. He is now in custody, charged with murder.
Detective Chief Inspector Vicky Tunstall from the Specialist Crime Command said: “This was a random and unprovoked assault. We are not looking for anyone else in connection with the attack, and it’s not believed to be linked to terrorism.”
Public Called to Help Catch Suspect
Witnesses who intervened to detain the attacker are being sought by police, especially two young men with skateboards who played a key role.
“I would like to trace two young males with skateboards who led this intervention,” said DCI Tunstall.
“Anyone with mobile phone footage or dashcam recordings from the area at the time is urged to come forward.”
Next of kin have been informed and are receiving support. A post-mortem will be carried out in due course.
