A serving Met police officer has been found guilty of harassment and now faces misconduct charges. PC Harvinder Dulay, from the Central West Command Unit, was convicted on January 12 at City of London Magistrates’ Court for sending unwanted texts, emails, and calls to a female colleague while on duty.

Officer Guilty of Harassment

The harassment took place in February 2022, with the victim forced to endure persistent unwanted contact. Dulay was officially charged on May 1, 2022, and convicted just last month.

Sentencing and Misconduct Hearing Loom

PC Dulay is due for sentencing at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on February 9. Meanwhile, police bosses have confirmed a misconduct hearing will follow.

Met Police Condemns Behaviour

“PC Dulay’s behaviour was completely unacceptable, and he deserves to face the consequences of his actions,” said Detective Chief Superintendent Owain Richards, central London policing commander.

“No woman working at the Met should have to deal with unwanted messages on a regular basis, especially from a coworker.

“I’m glad the victim brought this to our attention. Following the conclusion of the criminal proceedings, a misconduct hearing will be scheduled as soon as possible.”

The Directorate of Professional Standards is handling the case. Dulay has been placed on restricted duty during proceedings. Now that the criminal trial is over, the force is pressing ahead with an internal probe.
