Predator Nigel Stewart Sent Down for Nearly Three Years
Nigel Stewart subjected his victim to weeks of harassment, sending graphic images and demanding she perform sex acts. The 55-year-old from Gordon Road began targeting the girl on 13 September 2022, despite knowing her age multiple times.
Police Sting Nets Online Predator
Kent Police’s Paedophile Online Investigation Team swooped after gathering clear evidence that Stewart deliberately sent indecent messages to an underage girl. Unbeknown to him, he was chatting with a fake profile set up by officers.
On 18 October, cops raided his home, arrested him, and seized his mobile phone.
Sentenced at Canterbury Crown Court
Stewart faced trial on 8 August 2023. He pleaded guilty to attempting sexual communication with a child and attempting to incite a child to sexual activity. On Tuesday 10 October, he was sentenced to two years and 11 months in prison.
He also received a Sexual Harm Prevention Order, banning him from contact with children for the next ten years.
Detective Warns of Lasting Harm
“Stewart aggressively pursued what he thought was a 14-year-old girl, bombarding them with indecent messages,” said Detective Inspector Robert Grieve.
“Had Stewart made contact with a real child, the emotional and psychological damage would have been severe.
“Custodial sentences like this are essential to stop predators from causing serious harm to children.”
