Predatory Rapist Neil Gandy Gets Sentenced After Four Years of Abuse
Guilty of 16 Rapes and Coercive Control
Neil Gandy, 29, from Liverpool, appeared at Liverpool Crown Court on Monday, 27 March, where he was sentenced after being found guilty on 16 counts of rape related to 24 separate incidents. He was also convicted of one count of controlling and coercive behaviour.
During the nine-day trial, the jury unanimously convicted Gandy. He also pleaded guilty to actual bodily harm and breaching a non-molestation order.
Four Years of Abuse and Control Revealed
The chilling case exposed how Gandy used physical and sexual violence to dominate his victim over four years. He controlled her lifestyle, behaviour, and even her job decisions. He regularly showed up at her home in Halton, attacking her whenever she was alone.
The investigation began in October 2020 after the victim bravely came forward, leading to Gandy’s arrest and subsequent charges.
Police Praise Victim’s Courage and Promise Support
Detective Constable Sam Voisey, who led the probe, said: “I would like to commend the bravery of the victim. I hope this sentence gives her closure. Thanks to her testimony and our evidence, Gandy’s predatory behaviour is finally exposed and he’s been held accountable.”
Detective Sergeant Ross Hamilton added: “Thanks to all officers involved, especially DC Voisey, for their tireless work. This kind of abuse should never be suffered, but the victim can now begin rebuilding her life knowing Gandy is behind bars where he belongs.”
He urged other victims to come forward: “We investigate all sexual offence allegations seriously. Victims will receive specialist support and have the right to anonymity. No one should feel ashamed to speak out.”
