Midnight Burglary Shocker in Kent – Man Arrested After High-Speed Chase
Cash Machine Raid Sparks Police Pursuit
Kent Police were called out just after midnight on Wednesday, 21 September 2022, following a burglary attempt. Two men tried to break into a cash machine next to a local shop before smashing the shop’s front door. Among the items stolen were several packs of cigarettes.
Stolen Van Leads Cops on Wild Chase
Officers quickly spotted a vehicle linked to the crime. When asked to stop, it sped off, sparking a police chase along the A249 Sheppey Way towards Iwade. The van eventually came to a halt on Ledger Close in Sittingbourne. There, a man was arrested. The van was confirmed as stolen, and officers recovered suspected stolen cigarettes inside.
Suspect Charged, Hunt Continues for Second Man
Mark Steed-Shadbolt, 31, from Latona Road in Peckham, London, was charged with burglary, aggravated vehicle taking, and dangerous driving. He’s been remanded in custody and will face Medway Magistrates’ Court on Friday, 23 September 2022.
Police are still hunting for a second suspect described as a white male wearing a black Adidas hooded top.
