Eastbourne Monster Jailed for Horrific Abuse of Five Kids
Kevin Long, 65, from Binsted Close, Eastbourne, was slammed with 22 charges including rape, sexual assault, and child neglect. The sentencing came at Lewes Crown Court on Thursday 13 January after an eight-day trial.
Decades of Abuse Finally Exposed
Between 15 and 20 years ago, Long preyed on five vulnerable children — three girls and two boys aged between six and 15 — at multiple homes in Eastbourne. The girls suffered repeated sexual attacks, while the boys were subjected to cruel treatment.
It wasn’t until 2018 that one brave victim broke the silence, revealing the full horror of what had happened. This courageous disclosure sparked a police investigation that uncovered the full extent of Long’s depravity.
Detective Praises Brave Victims and Police Team
“Long was a systematic offender against vulnerable young ones, using his access for his own heartless gratification,” said Detective Sergeant David Gibbs of the East Sussex Safeguarding Investigations Unit.
“We admire the readiness of these victims, who endured real emotional and physical trauma, to give evidence. This, along with outstanding work by PC Joanne Fox, Simon Milloy from Witness Care, and John Cousins from Statement Taking, secured justice.”
Despite Long’s denial, the jury took less than two hours to deliver unanimous guilty verdicts on all 22 counts.
If You’ve Been Abused, Speak Up Now
Detectives urge anyone suffering abuse to come forward. “Do not suffer in silence,” said DS Gibbs. “Contact us anytime on 101 or online to talk privately with experienced investigators.”
