Birthday Bash Turns Violent: Man Jailed for Brutal Assault in Deal
Lee Norris, 34, celebrated his birthday on 30 October 2019. What started as a friendly get-together in Deal quickly turned savage.
Unprovoked Attack on Former Friend
After socialising all day, Norris was invited to a friend’s house in Freeman’s Way. Around 5.30pm, without any warning, he struck his friend across the back of the head, knocking him out cold.
Then things got worse. Norris bit the man’s lip, leaving a severe injury. A woman inside tried to step in – but Norris punched and kicked her too. Not done, he dragged the unconscious victim to the bathroom and stabbed him twice in the back.
Police Called, Norris lashes Out Again
Local residents heard the chaos and called kent-police/" title="Kent Police" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">Kent Police promptly. Officers arrived to find both victims injured and Norris still inside, acting aggressively. When they tried to arrest him, Norris kicked a police officer in the face.
Justice Served: Eight Years Behind Bars
Norris pleaded guilty to grievous bodily harm, common assault, assault on an emergency worker, and criminal damage. On 3 March 2020, Canterbury Crown Court sentenced him to eight years in prison.
Investigating officer PC Kerry Akast said: “This was a senseless attack on two people he knew and shows just how violent he is. Kent Police will not tolerate mindless aggression or knife crime.”
“Officers should not suffer injuries doing their job. Thankfully, the severity of Norris’ actions has been reflected in his custodial sentence.”
