Bexley Man Charged After Shocking Croydon Bus Stabbing
A violent row over a seat on a Croydon bus ended with a man stabbed several times in the leg. The attack happened on June 4 onboard a Route N64 bus.
Attack Escalates on Busy Croydon Bus
The 50-year-old victim was stabbed multiple times during a dispute. The assailant fled the bus at East Croydon train station. The victim managed to get to hospital for treatment and reported the incident to police.
Damian Howes Arrested Over Knife Attack
After a month-long police hunt and a public media appeal, 21-year-old Damian Howes from Haldane Road, Bexley, was arrested on July 14. He now faces charges of Section 18 grievous bodily harm and possession of an offensive weapon. Howes will appear at Croydon Magistrates’ Court on July 15.
Police Urge Witnesses to Speak Up
Detective Inspector Jonathan Potter of the Met’s Roads and Transport Command called for more witnesses to come forward. He said, “This was a violent attack on a busy London bus, and I am sure that there are witnesses who have not yet come forward. I urge those people to get in touch without delay.”
He also warned about the dangers of knife crime: “Some may wrongly believe carrying a knife brings respect, but it actually endangers everyone involved, including the carrier.”
