19-Year-Old Arrested Over Sexual Assault and Kidnap in Steyning

Detectives have snapped up a 19-year-old man after a teenage girl was sexually assaulted near St Andrew and St Cuthman Church in Steyning.

Swift Police Action After Morning Attack

Police were called at around 9am on Thursday, March 27, following reports of the assault on a teenage girl in the church grounds on Vicarage Lane.

Sussex Police launched a rapid investigation, leading to the suspect’s arrest. He is still in custody while specialist officers support the victim through this traumatic time.

Investigation Cranking Up

“This is a fast-moving investigation, and we have been working around the clock to establish the circumstances and locate the suspect,” said Detective Inspector Andrew Ricks.

He added: “We understand this incident may alarm the public. There’s an enhanced police presence in the area. Please talk to officers if you have concerns.”
