£700,000 Home Hideout for Ruthless Drug Enforcer
A man living in an exclusive gated East London estate, where homes fetch over £700,000, has been unmasked as a cold-blooded enforcer for a major organised crime gang. Peter Cordwell, 49, a debt collector with a violent past, was jailed for 11 years and six months following a National Crime Agency (NCA) crackdown.
From Quiet Suburb to Criminal Kingpin
Cordwell, well-known in Essex criminal circles, admitted involvement in dealing cocaine and amphetamines. His violent record includes assaulting people in 1998 and battery in 2014. The Ilford resident was caught using the encrypted messaging app EncroChat, where he operated under the alias “Mightyjedi.”
Police jailed him at Snaresbrook Crown Court on December 18 for drug trafficking linked to the infamous EncroChat network.
Massive Drug Haul Worth Millions
Texts uncovered during the investigation reveal Cordwell supplied multi-kilogram quantities of high-purity cocaine and amphetamines between late 2019 and mid-2020. He pleaded guilty to dealing at least 32 kilos of cocaine, worth about £2.5 million on the street, plus 90 kilos of amphetamines.
In one chat, he demanded £112,000 for “the last 4 tops” — four kilos of cocaine. In another, he boasted of cocaine purity over 80%.
NCA Bags Major Victory Against Class A Kingpin
Arrested on August 9, 2022, Cordwell refused to answer questions during four police interviews. NCA operations manager Dean Wallbank said,
“By dismantling Cordwell’s crime group, we have put an end to the harm it was bringing to UK streets. These men were supplying substantial quantities of Class A drugs across 123 works in the UK and globally. Our fight against Class A drugs is protecting the public from its devastating impact.”
