Kent Police Nab Three in Major Shoplifting Bust
Kent officers have seized hundreds of pounds worth of champagne, spirits, and other stolen goods after catching a car tied to a wave of shoplifting in Maidstone and Edenbridge.
London Women Behind Theft Spree Caught Red-Handed
Three women from Greater London were arrested following reports of thefts from top supermarkets including Sainsbury’s, Aldi, Waitrose, and Home Bargains. The suspects hail from Croydon and Purley.
Stop-and-Search in Maidstone Pays Off
The Maidstone Community Safety Unit, on patrol in Jeffrey Street at around 3pm on Tuesday 20 February 2024, stopped a suspicious vehicle. Officers found stolen alcohol, groceries, homeware, plus a black magnetic security tag remover inside.
The women faced charges linked to handling stolen goods and theft and have now been released on bail with strict conditions, pending further investigations.
Police Crackdown on Criminals Crossing County Lines
“We are seeing criminals cross county borders to target Kent businesses, hitting communities hard and pushing up prices for everyday goods,” said PC Ryan Shardlow-Wrest of the West Division Victim-Based Crime Team.
Using cutting-edge technology like Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) and working with partners such as British Transport Police, the force is determined to catch and stop these travelling thieves in their tracks.
