Theo Wolfe-England Caught Carrying Knife in Worthing
Theo Wolfe-England, 23, from Langley Lane, Crawley, has been convicted for carrying a knife in Worthing. On July 18, 2023, a PCSO spotted Wolfe-England leaving a store under suspicion of theft. Officers promptly stopped and searched him under Section 1 of the Police and Criminal Evidence Act.
Knife Found During Stop and Search
During the search, officers discovered a knife on Wolfe-England. He was arrested and charged for the offence. On January 26, Crawley Magistrates’ Court handed down a suspended prison sentence of four months, suspended for 12 months, after he pleaded guilty.
Tough Penalties and Serious Violence Reduction Order
Besides the suspended sentence, Wolfe-England faces a 25-day rehabilitation activity requirement and must complete 120 hours of unpaid community work. He was also hit with a deprivation order restricting his rights. Crucially, a Serious Violence Reduction Order (SVRO) was imposed, allowing police to search him in public without prior warning for a full year.
He has also been ordered to pay £239 in costs.
Police Praise Teamwork and New SVRO Milestone
Police Sergeant Sam Milsom said: “This is an excellent result and a real credit to our whole team. From spotting the offender to securing the charge and result, this shows our teamwork throughout the whole process.”
“I’d like to also congratulate Recruit Constable Laura Jackson for securing yet another SVRO; she is the first in the force to get two applications approved.”
“The SVRO is a powerful weapon against knife crime. If Wolfe-England is caught carrying a knife again, he could face fines or up to two years in prison, or both.”
