Dartford Drug Dealer Jailed for Two Years After Handcuffed Escape Attempt
Drug Dealer Caught Red-Handed
Leon Jeffers, 26, tried to make a run for it—while cuffed. The Dartford man was arrested in Eltham, South London, on October 9, 2024, after police seized heroin, crack cocaine, two phones, and over £2,400 in cash. Jeffers was caught red-handed supplying class A drugs to users in Dartford.
Desperate Escape Fails
Despite being handcuffed, Jeffers made a dash for freedom while being led to a police car. Officers acted fast and restrained him before he could get away. He was subsequently charged with multiple drug offences.
Sentenced at Maidstone Crown Court
On Monday, January 13, 2025, Jeffers pleaded guilty to drug supply charges and was slammed with a two-year prison sentence. The court delivered a clear message: drug dealers will be locked up and kept off the streets.
Police Crack Down on Kent’s Drug Trade
Detective Constable Lydia Edwards, who led the probe, said: “Dealers are responsible for wreaking havoc and causing misery in the lives of drug users and in their communities. We will always strive to bring criminals before the courts so that they can be held accountable for their actions and to stamp out supply lines so that drugs are removed from the streets of Kent.”
This bust is another win in Kent Police’s fight against drugs. Taking out dealers like Jeffers disrupts dangerous supply chains and protects local communities.
