Police Hunt Brothers Over 39 Dead in Grays Tragedy
Detectives probing the horrifying deaths of 39 people found in Grays last week have named two men they urgently want to speak to. Ronan Hughes, 40, and his brother Christopher, 34, both from Armagh, Northern Ireland, face suspicions of manslaughter and human trafficking.
Brothers Linked to Northern Ireland and Irish Republic
Ronan, who also goes by Rowan, and Christopher have connections across Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. Detective Chief Superintendent Stuart Hooper, leading the investigation, revealed:
“Finding and speaking to the Hughes brothers is crucial to our investigation. At this time, we believe they are in Northern Ireland but also have links to the Irish Republic. If you know where they are or have any information about their whereabouts, I need you to call my team.”
He appealed directly to the public, stressing the importance of community help in bringing justice for the 39 men and women who lost their lives.
Community Support Vital – No Detail Too Small
Detectives urge anyone with information – no matter how small – to come forward. Contact can be made via dialling 101 or online through the UK Police Major Incident Public Reporting site. For those hesitant to speak directly, calls can be made 100% anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
One Man Charged, Others on Bail
Maurice Robinson, 25, from Laurel Drive, Craigavon, Northern Ireland, has already been charged with 39 counts of manslaughter, conspiracy to traffic people, conspiracy to assist unlawful immigration, and money laundering. He is due in court at the Old Bailey on 25 November.
Three other suspects – a 38-year-old man, a 38-year-old woman, and a 46-year-old man – have been released on bail until November, as the investigation continues.
