Nightclub Horror: Four Men Jailed for Brutal 2017 Rape Attack

Shocking Attack After Night Out

A woman’s night out turned into a nightmare when four men launched a savage, 90-minute assault on her in August 2017. The gang met the victim at a nightclub in Ealing, where Octavian Lupu, 31, approached her, danced, and bought her drinks.

When her phone stopped working, the victim accepted Lupu’s offer to help arrange a taxi. Instead, she was forced into a car with the four men and driven to a house in Northolt. There, she was brutally raped by all four attackers.

Justice Served at Isleworth Crown Court

After a harrowing investigation, the men were found guilty of rape and sentenced on 12 May at Isleworth Crown Court:

  • Octavian Lupu, 31 – 20 years
  • Alexandru Cimbir, 40 – 18½ years
  • Andrei Rotaru, 25 – 17 years
  • Dmitri Ceban, 28 – 16 years

Detective Speaks Out

“Over the course of my career this is one of the worst assaults I have ever dealt with and they deserve such lengthy prison sentences,” said Detective Constable Angie Meadows, who led the investigation.

“The victim was out with friends when these men subjected her to a horrific ordeal. They’ve shown no remorse throughout. I hope this verdict helps her find closure and move forward.

“Women’s safety is a top priority for the Met. We encourage anyone affected by sexual assault to come forward. Our trained officers will support you and take every allegation seriously.”

How Police Cracked the Case

Police used nightclub CCTV and ID-entry records to identify the attackers. All four denied the rape but gave inconsistent stories during interviews. The victim bravely came forward, reporting the attack after getting to hospital.

The suspects even returned the victim’s clothes and arranged a taxi after the assault, a chilling detail that underlines the cruelty of the crime.
