Gas Leak Sparks Mass Evacuation at Central London Hotel
Early Sunday, panic hit the Grand Plaza Hotel in Central London. Staff and guests at the 76-bedroom hotel were urgently evacuated after a strong smell of gas was detected in the boiler room.
Fire Brigade Race to Scene After Alarms Sound
The London Fire Brigade rushed to the Lexham Garden site just before 3am when gas alarms went off. Firefighters used Gas Detection Units (GDU) and found a large poisonous gas leak inside the boiler room. Authorities ordered everyone to leave the building immediately and move far away due to the dangerous gas cloud.
Firefighters, suited in full gas-tight gear, bravely entered the boiler room to control the leak. Meanwhile, Specialist Detection, Identification, and Monitoring units were brought in to assist on the ground.
Road Closures and Ongoing Investigations
A road closure is now in place around the hotel, with drivers urged to find alternative routes.
