Man Charged Over Islington Double Murder

A tragic double stabbing in Islington has led to a man being charged with murder. Abel Chunda, 27, from Highgate Hill, N19, faces two counts of murder, one of attempted murder, plus possession of an offensive weapon.

Victims and Court Date

Chunda was remanded in custody and will appear at Highbury Corner Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, July 5. A 17-year-old boy arrested alongside him has been released on bail. Both were taken into custody on Monday, July 3.

The victims have been named as 15-year-old Leonardo Reid and a 23-year-old man. Families have been informed, with specially trained officers offering support during this grim time.

Deadly Stabbing Unfolds in Elthorne Road

The horror began late Thursday, June 29, when police responded to reports of a stabbing on Elthorne Road, N19, at 11.33pm. Paramedics found Leonardo Reid with fatal chest wounds. Despite rushed medical treatment, the teenager was pronounced dead just after midnight.

The second victim, a 23-year-old man, was also stabbed and taken to a west London hospital, where he later died. Post-mortems confirmed both died from stab wounds to the chest.

A third victim, believed to be 28, suffered a stab wound at a nearby address. He remains in hospital in stable condition.

Ongoing Investigation and Appeals

The Specialist Crime Command, supported by Central North Command Unit, is leading the investigation into this disturbing crime.

Earlier, a 46-year-old man was arrested but later released without charges.
