Speeding suspect caught with knife and cannabis sentenced to 21 weeks!
Police Chase Ends in Prison
Joseph Ayorinde, 25, from Forest Road, Edmonton, tried to outrun officers after a routine stop. On October 31, 2024, City of London Police Cycle Team officers pulled him over on Warrick Lane when they smelled cannabis coming from his vehicle. Before they could search him, Ayorinde sped off, leaving his car door wide open.
Dangerous Driving Spree
Ayorinde wasn’t done yet. He drove recklessly along Carter Lane, overtaking on the wrong side at high speed, putting the public in danger. But the police were on his tail.
Quick Police Action Sees Him Caught
Within five minutes, the Tactical Firearms Group tracked him down and arrested him. A search of his car revealed a lock-knife and cannabis.
“Within five minutes of us making the call that Ayorinde had fled from police, the firearms team were quickly at the scene to apprehend him. It was also due to our extensive camera network in the City, which helped us pinpoint his location, leading to the quick arrest.”– Police Constable David Parker, City of London Police Cycle Team
“Joseph Ayorinde could have posed a risk to the public with his dangerous driving after fleeing from the police. Our proactive work in his arrest and sentencing means there is now one fewer knife on the street and one fewer uninsured driver on the road.”
