Husband Jailed for Life After Brutally Stabbing Wife 36 Times in East London

Asim Hasan Found Guilty of Murdering Wife Aaisha

Asim Hasan, 33, has been sentenced to life imprisonment after stabbing his wife, Aaisha Hasan, 36 times at their home in Canning Town, East London. The horrific attack took place on 19 May 2022, leaving Aaisha fatally wounded.

Despite denying any intention to seriously harm his wife, Hasan was convicted of murder by a jury at the Old Bailey. Judge Anthony Leonard KC ordered Hasan to serve a minimum of 21 years behind bars.

Secret Abuse Recordings Expose Violent Relationship

During the trial, prosecutors revealed that Aaisha had secretly recorded her husband’s violent outbursts and abuse on her phone. The couple frequently argued over money, Hasan’s erratic behaviour, and false claims that Aaisha was having an affair.

Fearing for her safety, Aaisha saved harrowing images in a hidden phone folder—showing bruises and cuts from attacks just days before her death. In a desperate WhatsApp message to friends, she confessed her fear that Hasan might kill her if they were alone, yet she hesitated to call the police to avoid consequences for him.

Neighbours’ Concern, But No Police Action

A neighbour had reported suspicions after hearing arguments, and police were alerted. However, Aaisha appeared fine and declined to press charges, so no further action was taken. Court recordings revealed Hasan repeatedly accused her of infidelity, while Aaisha pleaded for help and voiced her terror that he might eventually kill her.

Ferocious Attack Ends in Tragedy

On the morning of 19 May, Hasan called emergency services, admitting: “I just stabbed my wife.” Paramedics found Aaisha lying in a pool of blood on the kitchen floor with 36 stab wounds, including one that chipped bone from her skull. She was pronounced dead at 7.20am.

After his arrest, Hasan made a full confession, stating, “I am guilty, and you can charge me.”
