Couple Caught Red-Handed Growing £500K Cannabis Farm in St Ives
A couple trying to dodge arrest for running a massive cannabis farm in St Ives made a desperate escape — jumping through a window and hiding in the loft.
Neighbours Tip Off Police After Suspecting Illegal Grow Operation
In January, concerned locals tipped off police after spotting suspicious activity at a house on London Road. When officers from the Huntingdonshire neighbourhood team arrived on 10 January, they found the front door barricaded.
Just then, Chovan Ceo, 43, leapt out of a window, while his partner Lan Thi Nguyen, 50, tried to hide in the loft beneath insulation panels.
Over 300 Cannabis Plants Worth Half a Million Seized
Inside the property, officers uncovered a massive haul: over 300 cannabis plants with an estimated street value of up to £500,000.
Couple Sentenced to Over Two Years in Prison
Both Ceo and Nguyen appeared at Cambridge Crown Court last Friday. They pleaded guilty to cannabis production and were each sentenced to two years and three months behind bars.
PC Tom Russell of the Huntingdonshire neighbourhood team said: “Thanks to members of the community, this illegal drug will not reach the streets, and this pair is behind bars.”
“Drug trafficking fuels organised crime, which often involves serious offences like modern slavery. We urge the public to watch out for signs of illegal grows, such as blacked-out windows and suspicious comings and goings at odd hours.”
