Unlicensed Breeder Nicola Palmer Busted in Ipswich
Dog Theft Accusations Spark Investigation
Nicola Palmer from Kesgrave, Ipswich, has been exposed as a convicted unlicensed dog breeder. Palmer initially faced dog theft allegations after breaking her adoption agreement with Phoenix Rehoming. She bred dogs she had adopted from the charity, flouting the rules.
Denied Rescue’s Pleas, Sold Puppies Online
Once a foster carer for Phoenix, Palmer claimed the dogs’ pregnancies were accidental. But she ignored urgent calls from the rescue to rehome the puppies via vetted homes. Instead, she sold them over the internet as “Italian whippet crosses” for £300 each – dodging the proper channels.
Convicted but Slap on the Wrist
Thanks to support from Animal Protection Services, Phoenix took Palmer to court. This week, she was convicted of breeding dogs without a licence. She received only a conditional discharge and was ordered to pay a mere £251 towards costs – a light penalty for breaking the law and risking animal welfare.
