London Duo Nabbed After £3,500 Spirit Heist at Maidstone Sainsbury's

Spirit Swipers Strike Multiple Times

Two London men have been charged over a spree of high-value shoplifting at a Maidstone supermarket. Between 12 and 21 September 2020, large quantities of alcohol—including pricey spirits—worth nearly £3,500 vanished from Sainsbury’s in Romney Place.

Quick Arrest on the Spot

On 25 September, cops swooped at the store and arrested Andre Vasile and George Matei, both from Lampton Road, Hounslow. Officers seized numerous bottles of spirits and a stash of food during the bust.

Charged and Bailed

Vasile, 20, and Matei, 21, faced Medway Magistrates’ Court the very next day. Both were charged with three counts of theft—two from 12 September and one on 25 September—with Vasile also hit with a charge from 21 September. They have been bailed until their next hearing on 15 October.
