Teen Found Guilty of Murder in Shocking Ormskirk Attack
Henry Houghton, 19, from Barrison Green, Scarisbrick, has been convicted of murder over the brutal killing of 19-year-old Matthew Daulby. The violent clash happened on Railway Road, Ormskirk, leaving Matthew fatally stabbed.
Victim Suffered Deadly Stab Wounds
Matthew was found with multiple stab injuries near the scene. Despite emergency services’ best efforts, he died later in hospital. The fatal blow came after a scuffle with several people in the early hours of July 29.
Blow to the Head with Sock and Rock
One savage injury was a deep cut to Matthew’s left forehead, caused when Houghton hit him with a sock stuffed with a rock. The heavy strike likely stunned Matthew just before the fatal stabbing.
Shared Intent Behind Deadly Attack
Prosecutors argued Houghton didn’t deliver the killing blow but shared the intention to cause serious harm or death. After a four-week trial, a Preston Crown Court jury unanimously found him guilty.
Sentencing Set for March 15
Houghton will learn his fate at Preston Crown Court on Friday, March 15.
“Houghton’s senseless, violent actions directly led to Matthew’s tragic death,” said Detective Chief Inspector Andy Fallows from the Force Major Investigation Team. “We thank the jury for reaching a verdict.”
