Teen Jailed for 11 Years After Shooting 15-Year-Old in Hackney
A 19-year-old man has been locked up for 11 years after shooting a 15-year-old boy in Hackney, East London. The victim suffered a leg wound in the attack, which shocked the local community.
Unprovoked E-Bike Shooting Shakes East London
On the evening of May 25, around 8:20pm, Kamaree Jeffrey rode up to a group of teenagers on Garden Place, E8. Wearing a balaclava and riding an e-bike, he opened fire without warning. A 15-year-old boy was hit in the leg and needed surgery, but thankfully his injuries were not life-threatening.
Police Crackdown on Firearms in London
The Metropolitan Police’s Specialist Crime Trident North East Command led a thorough investigation. Detective Chief Inspector Andrea Ireland condemned the attack, saying: “This was an unprovoked attack on a group of innocent youngsters.” She welcomed the conviction, adding that Jeffrey no longer poses a threat to the public.
Jeffrey Arrested and Sentenced After Lengthy Probe
- Jeffrey was arrested at home on July 18, 2023, after a lengthy investigation.
- He was charged with possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life and Section 18 grievous bodily harm.
- Jeffrey was found guilty by a jury at Snaresbrook Crown Court on January 22, 2024.
- On August 5, he received an 11-year prison sentence plus a concurrent four years for grievous bodily harm.
- He will face an extended four-year licence period on release, keeping him under close watch.
