Medway Drug Dealers Jailed After Police Bust
Three drug dealers have been locked up for peddling crack cocaine and heroin across Medway. Leesean Francis, Robert Downey, and Mohamud Salah were caught after a Kent Police crackdown on the Class A drug network.
Simultaneous Raids Nab Dealers
The trio sold dangerous drugs around the Medway towns until officers from Kent Police’s County Lines and Gangs Team swooped on 25 January 2022. Warrants were executed simultaneously at addresses on Beckenham Road, Beckenham, and Magpie Hall Road, Chatham.
Francis, 22, from London’s Bridgetown Close, was arrested inside the Beckenham property. Officers found multiple mobile phones tied to the ‘Dutch’ drug network. At the same time, Downey and Salah were caught at a Chatham home, where Salah was found with 50 wraps of crack cocaine and heroin along with a haul of cash.
Evidence Uncovered in Phones and CCTV
One phone seized from 21-year-old Salah showed bulk marketing messages linked to the ‘Blacks’ drug network. Investigations revealed Salah acted as a runner distributing drugs across Medway. CCTV footage caught Downey striking deals near his home and Francis visiting the address repeatedly.
Sentences Handed Down at Maidstone Crown Court
- Leesean Francis pleaded guilty to supplying crack cocaine and heroin — jailed for 5 years and 8 months.
- Robert Downey, 40, admitted offering to supply the drugs — sentenced to 2 years and 3 months.
- Mohamud Salah pleaded guilty to possession with intent to supply and possession of criminal property — received 2 years and 3 months.
“This is a justified sentencing for three drug dealers who targeted vulnerable people across Medway,” said Investigating Officer John Carless of Kent Police’s County Lines and Gangs Team.
“Drug dealing destroys lives beyond just the user — it affects friends, family, and communities. We will keep fighting to disrupt these nasty drug networks across Kent and Medway.”
