Trio Charged Over Fatal Stabbings of Two Teens in South-East London

Hussain Bah, 18, and two boys aged 15 and 16 appeared today at the Old Bailey, accused of fatally stabbing Charlie Bartolo and Kearne Solanke. The violent attack took place in Abbey Wood, south-east London, on the evening of November 26.

Motorbike Knocked Off Road Before Brutal Stabbing

Charlie Bartolo was allegedly deliberately knocked off his motorcycle by a Nissan 4×4 carrying five people just after 5 p.m. The prosecution says a group of Nissan drivers armed with large knives ambushed him on Sewell Road.

Charlie suffered at least six stab wounds, with the fatal blow piercing his skull.

Second Victim Found Dumped and Bleeding

Kearne Solanke, the second victim, was reportedly seriously injured by one of his friends. He was bundled into the same Nissan and dumped a mile away on Titmuss Avenue, Thamesmead. Members of the public found him bleeding from a chest wound, and he was pronounced dead at the scene at 6.15 p.m.

’Mob-Handed Armed Violence’ Described in Court

Following the attack, all three defendants were charged with two counts of murder. Hussain Bah appeared via video link from Thameside Prison, the 16-year-old was at Cookham Wood, and the youngest was in the dock.

“This was mob-handed armed violence on the streets of London in the context of conflict between groups of young men,” prosecutor Bill Emlyn Jones KC told the court.

Judge Angela Rafferty KC set a plea hearing for January 21 and scheduled a six-week trial at the Old Bailey starting November 6 next year.

Bah of Greenwich, south-east London, has been remanded in custody. The two younger defendants were remanded into youth detention.
