Man Arrested After Lewisham Crash Injures Two Men and a Dog

A 39-year-old man has been arrested following a collision between a Ford Fiesta and a London bus on Lewisham High Street this morning, leaving two men and a dog injured.

Crash Causes Morning Chaos on Lewisham High Street

Emergency services were called to the scene just before 9:30am on Thursday, April 24, after the Ford Fiesta smashed into a London bus. The driver of the Fiesta and the bus driver were both rushed to hospital with injuries described as non-life-threatening. Both have since been discharged.

Amid the chaos, the dog believed to belong to the Fiesta driver suffered an eye injury and was taken to a vet for treatment.

Driver Arrested and Bailed as Police Probe Continues

The Ford Fiesta driver was arrested at the scene and later released on bail while investigations are ongoing. Police have not yet revealed the specific charges being considered.

“At 09.22 hours on Thursday, 24 April, police were called to a collision in Lewisham High Street, SE13, between a Ford Fiesta and a bus. London Ambulance Service attended. The driver of the Ford Fiesta, a 39-year-old man, was taken to hospital as a precaution and discharged. A dog, believed to belong to the man, reportedly suffered an eye injury and was taken to a vet for treatment. The driver of the bus was also treated at hospital and has since been discharged. Road closures were in place while emergency services responded, but have since reopened. Enquiries into the circumstances continue.”

Traffic Disrupted, Road Now Reopens

Lewisham High Street was closed between Station Road and the town centre during the morning rush hour, causing delays. The road has since reopened, and traffic is back to normal.

Lewisham Police posted on X (formerly Twitter):

“This morning part of Lewisham High Street towards Station Road was blocked due to emergency services attending an incident. This road is now back open and traffic flowing normally. Apologies for any inconvenience caused.”

Witnesses Urged to Come Forward

Anyone who saw the crash or has dashcam footage is asked to contact the Metropolitan Police on 101, quoting reference CAD3737/24APR.
