Burglars Caught Red-Handed in Esher Break-In
Two burglars have been jailed after a daring break-in at a house in Esher this January. David Parsons, 70, from Feltham, and Karl West, 53, of Uxbridge, were sentenced at Guildford Crown Court on 13 April for the crime.
Victim Wakes to Intruders Shining Torches
On 17 January, the victim was awoken by Parsons and West lurking in his garden with torches. Spotting the burglars, he immediately called the police. Officers discovered a broken living room window and missing silverware from the property.
Police quickly combed the area and found Parsons and West nearby on foot. The duo tried to ditch some silver items, later confirmed by the victim as stolen from his home.
Stolen Loot Dumped in Car Leads to Arrest
Both men were arrested on suspicion of burglary. In West’s possession were car keys, which led officers to a vehicle on Milbourne Lane. Inside, they found a black bag stuffed with more stolen goods — including items engraved with the victim’s surname — plus bank cards belonging to Parsons and West.
Sentences Handed Down for Prolific Burglars
- David Parsons was jailed for 30 months.
- Karl West received 34 months plus an extra six months for breaching a Suspended Sentence Order.
Detective Constable Jess Jaensch praised the swift police work: “These sentences are the result of a collective effort across police departments. The swift arrest of the suspects by the responding officers enabled detectives to bring the evidence together and secure convictions for two prolific burglars.”
She added, “Most importantly, we’re pleased that all of the victim’s stolen property, most of which were sentimental family heirlooms, have been recovered and will be returned to them.”
