Man Arrested Over Terrorist Material in East London Raid

A 28-year-old man was snapped up on Tuesday morning, 2 November, during a police raid in east London. Cops swooped on two addresses, arresting him on suspicion of spreading terrorist publications, breaking Section 2 of the Terrorism Act 2006.

He was cuffed under the Police and Criminal Evidence Act (PACE) and taken to a London police station for questioning.

SO15 Leads Investigation Into Islamist Extremism Online

Specialist counter-terror unit SO15 carried out the searches as part of an ongoing probe into extremist Islamist content posted on social media platforms.

Police are urging local communities to stay vigilant. “Communities defeat terrorism,” they said. “If you see or hear anything suspicious or believe someone might be involved in terrorist activity, trust your instincts and report it confidentially at gov.uk/ACT. In an emergency, always call 999.”
