Horror on Brixham Road: Man Set Alight Near Dudley Road Mosque
Shock in Edgbaston, Birmingham, after a man was doused in an unknown substance and set on fire just after 7pm on Monday. The victim was walking home from Dudley Road mosque when a stranger approached him, spoke briefly, then sprayed him before igniting his jacket.
Burn Injuries and Urgent Police Probe
The man suffered burns to his face and was rushed to hospital with serious but thankfully non-life-threatening injuries. West Midlands Police quickly launched an investigation after a video showing the attack started circulating on social media.
Police Hunt Attacker, Appeal for Community Help
“Our officers have been working through the night to establish what happened and who is responsible,” said Supt James Spencer.
“We’re examining CCTV and speaking to witnesses and are determined to find out who is responsible. I’ve spoken to the community this morning and understand their concerns and need for answers.”
“We urge the community to work with us and avoid speculation at this stage.”
