Blaze Ravages Farm Overnight
A vicious fire tore through farm buildings in Newgardens, Whitby, overnight in what’s being called a deliberate arson attack. The flames gutted multiple structures, leaving behind twisted wreckage and ruin. Shocking photos show the blaze raging high as firefighters fought through the night to contain it.
MJ Morley broke the grim news on The Real Whitby Facebook page, saying:
“Our farm buildings have been set on fire at Newgardens… People who do these type of things need stopping.”
At this stage, the full scale of the damage is still unclear, and it’s not yet known if animals or equipment were harmed.
Farm Owners Plead for Help: “Who Did This?”
In a desperate call to the community, the farm’s owners urged locals to stay alert and report any suspicious activity. They wrote:
“We now need your help to find out who has done this… please share this and keep your eyes and ears open. We need anyone who hears or has seen anything to come forward.”
They warned Whitby’s strong-knit community that the attack could escalate if the culprit is not caught quickly.
Police Probe Underway
North Yorkshire Police have yet to make an official statement but are understood to be launching a full investigation. Evidence points to arson, though the cause remains under review.

The community has flooded social media with support. One local posted, “Absolutely disgusting — so sorry to hear this. Hoping justice is served soon.” Another added, “If anyone knows anything, they need to speak up.”
