Watch Snatched Then Dropped in Bizarre Fake Charity Scam Near Tunbridge Wells!
Two Young Women Target Man with Fake Hospital Appeal
Just before noon on Saturday 12 March 2022, a man was grabbed for his watch by two females posing as charity collectors near the A26 London Road and Rocks Hollow Gardens.
The pair flashed pieces of paper claiming to seek donations for a hospital helping people who are deaf or blind. While one distracted the victim by pointing to the documents, she grabbed his arm and tried to snatch his watch.
The watch was briefly taken but soon dropped when the man fought back. The suspects then fled, jumping into a nearby white or silver VW 1 driven off by a third accomplice.
Suspect Details: Teens with Eastern European Accent
- First suspect: White female, around 16 years old, slim, 5ft tall, dressed in dark clothes.
- Second suspect: White female, approx. 20, broader build, similar height, short dark hair, dark clothing, wearing a face mask.
- Both spoke with Eastern European accents.
Police Warn Locals to Stay Alert
Detective Inspector Jim Farley said: “It is possible these people may have targeted other potential victims in and around the Tunbridge Wells area and we are urging anyone who may have noticed anything suspicious to contact us. We are also asking relatives and neighbours to keep an eye out for elderly or vulnerable neighbours who may have unwelcome visitors to their doors.”
